this is how i feel!
got this on a list:
I personally would not let my kids make the decision about where they
go to school. I know not all, especially unschoolers, will agree with
this, but ultimately we are the parents--my kids don't see movies that
I consider inappropriate, they don't participate in activities I
consider unsafe (eg, they would love to ride bikes without helmets--not
allowed), they don't hang out with friends I don't know. why would I
let them decide if they could go to school? I have very strong beliefs
about why I am homeschooling them and feel this is my decision to make.
I have told them if they could make a really good argument for being
in school, we can discuss it, but just wanting to go is not a good
enough reason.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am glad to read that others feel this way too. I was talking to my friend M today and she mentioned some things her 5th grader has learned on the bus or wherever.....that's a good reason right there! No school!
